Testing Gold Nuggets

Quick Question for the Prospectors on this board:

When you find a gold nugget that is a mix of gold and ROCK, how do
you test it to determine the weight of gold content to determine value?

You have what's called "gold included (rock host name - maybe quartz?)". It's also called a hardrock "specimen". THEY ARE RARE SO DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BREAK IT. It's worth more in its present state than the value of the gold it contains.

Thanks guys.

I know someone who owns one who wants to sell it.

Where do you sell a rare gold nugget? eBay?

I'll tell them not to BREAK it, but I don't know how to "assey" it.

They do NOT want to assay it. Assay requires the gold be melted.
They want to keep or sell it as is; intact, period.
